§Glossary

The words we use, defined.

Verification work depends on precise vocabulary. These are the terms used across AnKre and this site, in plain English.

Audit trail
The record of collection, checks and reviewer decisions across an investigation, kept so that any finding can be reconstructed later.
Claim
A statement under examination: a role held, a shareholding, a qualification, a licence, a corporate relationship. In AnKre the claim is the unit of work.
Claim status
The verification outcome of a claim: Supported, Unresolved or Contradicted, always shown with the evidence, source and retrieval date behind it.
Contradicted
The available records say something different from the claim.
Data residency
The commitment that a client's content is stored and processed in the region named in its contract. Only content-free sign-in, billing and routing information sits outside it.
Data room
The space where a seller files the documents of a transaction. AnKre ingests it, makes it searchable and checks the claims it contains.
Dedicated environment
An environment used by a single client, deployed from the same release as every other AnKre environment.
Evidence
The passage or record that speaks to a claim, held as structured evidence with its source and retrieval date rather than as an undifferentiated attachment.
Evidence inspector
The panel that opens the supporting passage of a finding beside it, without leaving the finding.
Evidence pack
The underlying documents and records of an investigation, organised so a reviewer can retrace the work.
Finding
The interpretation of the evidence about a claim, with its status, its evidence and the reviewer's decision. No finding is released without a named analyst's decision.
Identity resolution
Reconciling the different appearances of one person or organisation across sources into a single subject. Strong identifiers come first, uncertain matches go to a person, and merges can be undone.
Knowledge graph
The structure the evidence lives in: subjects, the relationships between them, the claims made about them and the sources behind each one. Every node and edge carries its source and retrieval date.
KYB
Know your business: checking who an organisation is and who stands behind it.
OSINT
Open-source intelligence: information from public sources such as registries, filings, court records and the press. AnKre uses it only within a file's purpose, under the source's licence and passively.
Proof of value
An evaluation of AnKre on a live file, run on your own case rather than on a scripted example.
Retrieval date
When a piece of evidence was obtained, kept apart from the date of the fact and the date of the document.
Seller questions
Questions to the seller in a transaction, drafted from gaps and contradictions and linked to the findings they concern.
Suggest-only agent
An agent whose output is a labelled proposal waiting for an analyst's decision; it never creates a finding on its own.
Supported
The available records back the claim.
Unresolved
The available records do not settle the claim in either direction. Unresolved is never reported as a clean result, and the missing evidence is named.
W&I insurance
Warranty and indemnity insurance in an acquisition. Insurers, like lenders, ask where each due diligence conclusion comes from.
Workstream
One discipline of a due diligence. AnKre supports nine: financial, legal, tax, commercial, technology, HR, ESG, cyber and operational.
